Coercing Care

this co-authored paper with Jeffrey Guhin (fellow, Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at UVA) is a mostly theoretical work about ideas of care in education.  Using Clarissa Hayward’s notion of “power de-faced,” we look at the diffusion of power through pedagogies and pedagogical practices, to argue coercion may be found everywhere; what matters is the orientation of this power toward certain notions of care.
